Ella replied, "Sure. It'll be a meal where there are no cups."

An hour and a half into putting our girls to bed, Daniel told them, "If I have to come up here one more time, I am going to lock you into your room."
Ella replied, "Yea dad, the problem with that is that the lock is on the inside of our room. So, you could lock us in, but I would just get up and unlock the door."
Note: On this night, the girls each got out of bed 3 times to "ooze the bathroom." Not wanting to discourage them from "oozing" the bathroom, we not patiently assisted them, taking every precaution to ensure that their nightgowns would not end up in the toilet. During the third and final bathroom trip, we ushered Virginia in and out without incident. We were in the clear until Ella's final dismount, when oops . . . "I just dropped my nightgown into the water." To my dismay and hers, twas not water alone in the toilet.

In time-out and sniffling over injustice, Virginia beckoned Ella to her. "Ella, mommy hurt my feelings."
Ella replied, "I'll hug you and sit next to you, but I'm not allowed to do anything that will make you happy."
"That's okay."
And they sat happily together until the end of time-out.
