I'm not sure what was going on when this first note was written, but I do recall that Jude laughed so hard when he heard "filt[h]y donkey" that he could hardly contain himself. Now, whenever he's trying to be funny, he likes to address our family members as filthy donkeys.
This is a conduct card that Ella recently made for Virginia when they were playing school. It is an accurate assessment of Virginia's behavior; in fact, the girls are currently forbidden from playing school, because it so frequently ends with the teacher in tears and the pupil in the principal's office.
And here are the vows Ella wrote when she presided over the wedding of a young Virginia and Jude. I love it that she wrote her own vows, but I love even more the doom she wishes upon those who seek to thwart true love. Her tone is vaguely reminiscent of an Old English incantation.

I love filt(h)y donkeys!
I'm going to start using "filthy donkeys." Those notes are awesome.
