These Days

I haven't written an entry in so long that the prospect of writing seems overwhelming, and I hardly know where to begin. I do know, however, that writing is cathartic and that even when days have been difficult, writing about them always helps me to remember my many blessings. Our past few months have been packed with house guests, travel, holidays, and the everyday bustle of life with three small children. The effort to capture all of this in one entry is more than I can conjure, so I will instead chronicle our past few months with vignettes of the most memorable times. And here, briefly, I will catalogue life as it is today.

Ella has taken to saying "oh bother" in place of minor obscenities.
Virginia has taken to yelling obscenities.
Jude is afraid that monkeys will enter his room while he sleeps.
Our house is filthy.
By careful planning and coupon cutting, I saved $100 at the grocery store today, and I feel like a rock star.
Daniel wore a purple shirt today (a first for him), and he looked so handsome.
I carried Jude with me to communion today, and we barely escaped without knocking the Eucharist all over the floor. Note to self: never hold Jude within reach of the Eucharist.
Houston is relatively warm, but I am always cold. I really want a fleece jacket. Still. I think I'm going to order one right now.
