The Littlest Don Juan

Jude has his first crush.  It sounds ridiculous, and for awhile I wondered if I was making it up or reading too much into things.  Not so.  The little fella is entirely smitten with the girls' friend Emma.  For months now, Jude has been requesting visits to Emma's house.  Often, when I'm helping him down from his booster seat, he exclaims, "Emma, car, road, see Emma!"  He stands at the front door, with his shoes on, his hand held out to me, begging, "car, Emma, house, Emma."  If we're driving, he asks, "house, Emma?"  Emma, Emma, Emma.  He's obsessed.  Well, until last night, I don't think anyone much believed me that he was so taken with her.  We were finishing dinner, all sitting around the table talking, and Jude said, "kiss, Emma."  He actually said this.  I just laughed, thinking I had misunderstood him, and I asked him, "who do you want to kiss?"  He replied, "Emma, kiss Emma!"

So, it looks like we may have the littlest Don Juan on our hands.  He certainly is hard to resist, for me at least.  Emma, as it turns out, couldn't care less about him.  Really, it's a classic tale of courtship:  boy chases girl, girl ignores boy; boy resolves to win girl, girl ignores boy; boy fantasizes about girl, girl ignores boy.  The end.

We need to have a meeting of the spirited children when we get back.

At least he's in love with a real girl he knows. Paul is smitten with the girl in the Dolce & Gabbana "light blue" perfume ad. He looks for it in every issue of Lucky magazine, and will just hold the magazine open on his lap while he eats his snack or watches Blue's Clues. Should he know she's hot at such a young age?
