The First Baby Human

Ella:  So mommy, where did the first baby human come from?  I mean, did God just make that first baby?  How could it have been born if there were no other humans?

Cathleen:  Good question.  What brings that up?

Ella:  I've just been thinking about it for awhile now and I couldn't figure it out, so I thought I'd ask you.

Here's the funny part:

I was impressed by Ella's question, and so I relayed to Daniel my conversation with her.   All he said in response was something like this: "Well, she's been read Genesis so many times that it doesn't surprise me.  She probably knew the answer but just wanted to make conversation."

I can't decide which is more dumbfounding--her question or his response.

Seriously, what did you tell the kid?

We told her to reread Genesis.

I always say (because these questions do not/will not stop) "Well, I'm not totally sure since I wasn't around. Probably whatever you think is pretty close to what happened....". This lame-o answer has discouraged them from asking me any questions about history in general ;).

I have to agree with Daniel. Knowing Ella as we all do I am sure she was just wanting to hear your answer. Gotta love that girl. I think this is a sign of what is to come. Grandma Pat
